Questions people ask

The app can’t hear me. How do I turn the microphone on?

GibberFlip needs your microphone to record your attempts. If you said “Don’t Allow” earlier, you can switch it on again:

  • iPhone: open Settings › GibberFlip and turn on Microphone.
  • Android (when it arrives): open Settings › Apps › GibberFlip › Permissions and allow Microphone.

Then come back to the game. It checks again by itself.

How do I get better scores?
  • Find a quiet spot. TVs, music and chatty friends all end up in your take.
  • Hold the button the whole time. Press before you start and let go after your last sound.
  • Try a slower speed. Slowing the backwards audio down makes the sounds much easier to catch.
  • Copy sounds, not words. Listen a few times and mimic the noises, including the odd breathy bits.
  • Speak up. Hold the phone a hand’s width from your mouth and use your normal speaking voice.

If you’re sure you nailed it and the game disagrees, tell it so with “That was right!” on the result screen. We’d also love to hear about it by email, with the phrase you were on.

Is it free?

GibberFlip will be free to download and play, with short ads between levels. Never while you’re playing, recording or hearing a result. A one-time purchase removes the ads, and extra phrase packs are one-time purchases that are yours to keep. No subscriptions, ever. Prices are shown in the app before you buy anything.

Is it OK for kids?

Yes. The phrases are family-friendly, there’s no chat and no account to make, and recordings stay on the phone. Little ones may need a grown-up to read the phrase out loud the first time. When ads arrive, they’ll only appear between levels, and purchases go through the App Store, so Apple’s parental controls (like Ask to Buy) work as usual.

Where do my recordings go?

Nowhere. They’re flipped and scored on your phone and aren’t uploaded. Test (TestFlight) versions do send us anonymous scoring numbers, never audio, to help make scoring fairer. The privacy policy has the details.

I bought a pack on another phone. How do I get it back?

Sign in to the same Apple ID (or Google account), then open Settings › Restore purchases in the game.

Can I play with friends?

Party rooms, where friends join from their own phones with a 4-letter code, are coming in a later update. For now, pass the phone round and take turns. It works surprisingly well.

When is it out? Is there an Android version?

iPhone comes first, with a small test (beta) before launch. Android follows after that. Want in on the beta? Email hello@gibberflip.com.
